welcome...

to the Sirens of the Golden Sabre Krewe web site.

The purpose of this organization shall be to offer members an opportunity to be a part of a band of mystic sirens whose mission is one of common good to all, loyalty, trustworthy fellowship and mutual camaraderie. These shall be displayed in upright conduct and always in an endeavor to achieve fun, frivolity and friendship.

Membership shall be comprised of spirited, kind hearted, well-meaning women whose dedication to God and Country and having a good time shall prevail. The over-riding goal of each member shall be to end each day having done all to make their world and everyone in it happier by having met this Krewe member.

Membership to our Krewe is by invitation only!

Happy Birthday to our February birthday Sirens: Christina H. (2/13) Vicki G. (2/16) Debbie S. (2/27) Rachel L. (2/29)

Our 5th Annual Think Pink Benefit was Saturday, September 26, 2009 and the krewe and our many guests had a great time at Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Southeast! We have had such success in the last 4 years, that our goal for this year's Benefit is $20,000. Proceeds from this year's benefit will support Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. Last October, we held our 4th Annual Think Pink Benefit for Breast Cancer Research, on Saturday, October 18th, 2008. Our 3rd annual benefit was held Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Teco Plaza, and our primary beneficiary was Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure . The benefit - which raised over $15,000 - was sold out that year! At the 2006 Benefit - held Saturday, September 23, 2006 - our Sirens had a DGT, as always, and raised over $19,000 for the charity. A huge Thanks! to those who attended and the many individuals and businesses that gave items for our silent auction.

Our Executive Board for 2009-2010 is now in place: Continuing to serve are: Jill S. (President), Vicki G. (Director of Marketing), Jodi A. (Director of Membership), Jackie J. (Treasurer) and Dawn H. (Parliamentarian). Joining them are these newly elected Sirens: Stacey A. (Vice President), Ange P. (Director of Parades), Lori Leonard (Director of Floats), Tammy Gettle (Secretary). For the coming year, the membership has chosen Octavia S. as our Captain! Stacey A. was our Communications wench this past year. A great big thank you to Stacie R. for her service on the Board this past year.

Our first parade of the 2008-2009 season was the Fourth of July Parade in Brandon, on Friday July 4. Following that, we were in the 5th Annual City of Orlando Veteran's Parade, our first time at that parade. You saw us at the Gasparilla Children's Parade and Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla's Gasparilla Day Parade, along Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa. 2009's Gasparilla Day Parade followed the Super Bowl XLIII , with the Pittsburg Steelers and Arizona Cardinals, held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, 2/1/2009. We're there for the Krewe of Sant' Yago Illuminated Knight Parade and Rough Rider's St. Patrick's Day Parade, both through Ybor City.

The Sirens of the Golden Sabre participate in Paint Your Heart Out Tampa every year, and it's one of our favorite events. In 2009, the event was held on Saturday, April 25. We rolled out to the Harris home on Emma St. in central Tampa. Last year, which was the 20th Anniversary of PYHOT, the date was Saturday, April 19th. Our home was on Cord Street in east Tampa, and we came ready to "roll." In 2006, we worked at the home of Josephine N. on West Fern St. In 2005, on April 16, we worked for Peggy S. on W. Paris Street. On April 17, 2004, we painted for Mr. & Mrs. B. on E. Powhattan Ave. On April 5, 2003, we painted for Eugene J. on East Noel St. See the Photo Albums page for pics.

This past Christmas season, the Sirens were busy with their annual holiday charity events. We supported the Toy Drive lead by O'Brien's Irish Pub, who held their 7th annual event this past year. This Toy Drive benefits the E.C.H.O. Foundation, Hillsborough County Crisis Center, Mary Help of Christian School, and Brandon and Plant City hospitals. The Sirens helped the O'Briens host the event at their pubs in Brandon and Plant City. Our Krewe also adopted a family through Sincerely Santa, providing them with a Thanksgiving feast and gifts for all the family at Christmas.

You'll see the Sirens at every Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. In 2005, we walked along with Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio (second from right)!
